refbacksThe Refback is the third type of "linkback" described by
Six Apart, . It's not commonly referred to but is a way of determining who is referring to your posts within their posts. Once again an automatic function and it doesn't require any input or contact by either the original writer or the referencing writer.
"A Refback is also a link. In this case, however, Site A (link originator) does not need to "tell" anything to Site B (receptor). Instead, the receptor Site "discovers" this link immediately after the first web visitor gets to the site by clicking on the link. This is done by analyzing information carried by this web visitor's browser referer header.
This is an easier method than Pingbacks since the Site originating the link doesn't have to be Pingback enabled (Posting a link back within any webpage is good enough)."*
It's an electronic method of measuring the interest in your blog as being used as an important reference source or stimulating follow on discussions and ideas.
The problem is that I cannot find a generic Refback application module. Technorati have a variation of it for users who are registeerd with technorati. Their product in this regard is called:
Technorati Post Cosmos Links"It allows your readers to easily see what others are saying about the topics you care about. Place a handy little link in the blog summary and your readers can follow the conversation around your post throughout the entire Technorati database."
It is presumably limited to the Technoarati sphere so no inference should be made on the overall referencing of your post. It just informs you what aother Technorati subscribers are doing with your post(s)
It's installed on each post with the specific post URL. It's a manual addition and for generic blog platforms like Yola can't be automatically added at this point.
The search will continue and if someone knows of a module to install I would be really grateful for this information. :)
